We just recently celebrated the 13th birthday of this little cutie. I am completely blown away with how quickly he grew from that curly red hair little toddler to a young, cracking voice teenager who is the same size as his Daddy. I so vividly remember holding this little one in my arms as a newborn infant and thinking that he would grow to be a strong man who would one day protect his Mama. He is already showing those characteristic traits by carrying heaving things up the stairs for me, making me a drink with a lot of ice, and making sure his sister does not come in the line of fire during an air soft war. An even sweeter blessing is how he takes care of his Nana. I caught him last night walking his Nana out to the car after church. He provided his arm as his walked with her to the car.
As proud as I am of my precious son, I am once again reminded that in order for him to grow up to be the man God wants him to be, it is vitally important that I protect and guard his heart while he is still young. Guarding the hearts of our children is and always will be our first desire as parents.
Keep thy heart with all diligence; for out of it are the issues of life.
Proverbs 4:23 (KJV)
